Disturbing sleep disorder?
I've been a chronic insomniac since i was around 18 months (my parents can confirm this. They can wheel off countless stories of having major trouble getting me to fall asleep from 18 months onwards). Its always been there and i've learnt to accept that i'm not a natural sleeper. But I've learnt to cope with it…
However, my insomnia since around xmas time has got far worse.I hardly sleep at all. May have the odd good night but they are very few and far between. Been down the GPs' several times and been dished out with small quantities of various sleeping pills but now the GP refuses to dish out anymore and wants me 'to sort out whats wrong'. I've tried explaining i've had this most of my life but i don't think he believes me. Got a 2nd opintion from another GP who was very unsympathetic and got given the same 'sort out whats wrong and don't drink coffee..etc.etc (the same advice i've heard on and off for years)'.
I have abit of fianical trouble but i've had far worse in the past and my sleeping wasn't as bad as this when it happened so i don't put it down to simply my finaical situation. Also, recently i've noticed that when i do fall asleep i often wake myself up by either talking or shouting really loudly. I've also got into the habit of moving things around while i'm sleeping, for example, i have a bedside table and i have an awful habit now of switching my mobile fone on (ALWAYS switch it off before i go to sleep) and moving it under my pillow. Also, i somehow manage to switch off my alarm clock which is also on the table (And yes, have been known to arrive late for work 2 or 3 times due to the above) and switching it off is no mean feat either, you have to press a ton of buttons and go through several options…I have no idea how i manage to do that in my sleep, i also move my books that i have my bedside table under my pillow or onto the bed. Woken to find my bed covered with my books several times. I sleep by myself by the way.
The talking, yelling and moving/switching things on/off is now starting to really disturb me along with the most extreme insomnia i've ever had. I don't want to go back down to my GP again,as it appears he doesn't really understand.
Is it possible that i can book myself into a sleep clinic of some sort or do i have to get refered by a GP? I have to get this nailed as its interfering with all other aspects of my life. Any help/suggestions would be gratefully received. Thank you.
